Work Exchange Program
We offer a work exchange program for those that can not currently fit yoga into their budgets. This is not a volunteer position. Karma yoga work exchange staff must demonstrate reliability, people skills, administrative/computer skills and be a team player. In exchange, you will receive comped yoga classes and studio discounts. 1 Hours/Week = 1 Comped Yoga Class 3 Hours/Week = 2 Comped Yoga Classes 5 Hours/Week = Unlimited Yoga Classes

Studios, for one, are a tight knit community, there is more togetherness than the crowded gym and you receive the direction and encouragement that you can not get practicing at home. At a yoga studio, yogis get instruction from professional instructors. This instruction is catered to a variety of performance levels, not the generic instruction one would typically find at the gym. Paying a few more dollars is worth it.

Practicing at a yoga studio is a perfect little getaway. Yes, yoga can be done at home, but there are often distractions that yogis have to work around. Often this can be more difficult- to make sure that one’s yoga practice is peaceful and fun. In Tune With Your Body
Researchers found that people who practiced yoga for at least 30 minutes once a week for at least four years, gained less weight during middle adulthood. People who were overweight actually lost weight. Overall, those who practiced yoga had lower body mass indexes (BMIs) compared with those who did not practice yoga. Researchers attributed this to mindfulness.

Any one can practice yoga from any background,religion,race or body size. Yoga is about bringing yourself into a focused state through the linking of mind, body, and breath.

Athletic comfortable clothing, water bottle and a yoga mat is really all that is necessary to bring with you on your first day of class.We supply water & yoga mats but it is recommended to have your own.
Please arrive about 10 minutes before your class starts.This gives current students plenty of time to get settled on their mats. New students,there is a short intake form to fill out and meet the teacher of your first class
For your first class it is recommended that you take it easy and allow yourself the immense freedom of being a beginner.
Comfortable clothes
Wear loose-fitted, comfortable clothing when practicing yoga. Don’t worry about how your body looks!
Turn Inward
Aim on turning inward and noticing how the practice makes you feel on the inside.
Listen to your body
You don't have to do every pose your instructor demonstrates. If a pose is uncomfortable or you can't hold it as long as the instructor requests, don't do it or come out of it.
Breathe
Spend time sitting quietly, breathing deeply until your instructor moves the class on to another pose that's more comfortable for you.
Compassion
Practice with breath awareness, and compassion toward yourself and those around you.
